conflicted pumpkin

We carved our pumpkin on Friday. Cate helped a lot with the scoop out (pics to come!). Max picked a funny face out of the little guide booklet, and then Cate drew a happy face on the other side. So, I just carved both.

Now, we have a very conflicted pumpkin on our hands (or, rather, our porch):

This one was originally supposed to be kind of a goofy/scared look, like the one featured in the booklet that came with the pumpkin carving kit, but my placement was off and he lost a few teeth in the carving process. Now, he just looks ... well ... miserable. Cate can't even look at him without getting extremely sad ("He sad, Mommy. He so, SO sad.")

Note to self for next year: It is extremely dumb to carve both sides of the pumpkin!!!!! Duh!
