The Harpers: Where o' where did our summer go ...?

Update: As it turns out, our old computer did pretty much quit before this post ever hit the presses. Good news, though! We've got a new one now, and I'm back in the blogging business! Yay!

Well, here we are! The end of summer and the beginning of a new school year! Time to get the calendar back out and start setting the alarm again :)

Sorry for the lack of blog posts recently! Honestly, there has been plenty of time to blog this summer, but our dinosaur of a computer is on it's last leg. (Seriously. It will be a miracle if it doesn't die before I finish this.) And, well, nothing ruins a fun summer day more than staring at that infinitely circling wheel of frustration (grrrrrr). The good news is that we'll be getting a new one soon, so I can get back to blogging and picture editing for fall!

So, what did the Harpers do this summer? Well, for the blog record, We went camping in North Carolina with friends, Max went to BOLD camp and science camp with his best buddy, Thomas. Cate went to dance camp with her girlfriends and a summer program called Discovery Kids with some of her school friends for the month of July. We hit the drive in movies a couple of times. Both kids went to a Vacation Bible School (or two ;) We went to the pool A LOT. We slept in (like pros!). We drank milkshakes (like they were going out of style). We had play dates and sleep overs galore. We rode bikes. We made a quick trip to Texas in June for Hunny's 60th birthday party, and a longer trip in August for all kinds of grandparent fun!

Far and away the best thing about this summer for me has been watching / listening to the kids play. Max and Cate have become the best of friends and listening to them play together is just pure joy. They really never argue (and, from what I hear on the mom circuit, this is a true blessing), so it has just been nice this summer for me to kick back, chill and enjoy the sounds of happy children doing their thing. Both Max and Cate are also lucky to have great friends with whom they can play and giggle and just be their silly, lovable selves! I can think of nothing more in the world that I want for either of them than that.

Pool time!

Baby girl was *so close* to swimming by herself by the end of the summer! That's saying a lot considering she started the summer with a full out refusal to even approach a swimming pool :)
