For starters, Jake turned 34 on the 7th! While 34 isn't really a big deal in and of itself, this particular birthday was a special one for Jake because it represented a new beginning of sorts. For those of you who don't know, Jake has made some really big changes in his life over the past few months. He has started eating healthy and working out, and he's lost over 50 lbs!!! Yay Jake! As if that isn't reason enough to celebrate, Jake got an irresistible job offer from BB&T on his birthday night! Deciding on what to do in light of that offer made for a pretty intense couple of weeks around here, but ultimately we just couldn't pass up such a great opportunity. So, he starts his new job as Vice President of Wealth Management at BB&T TODAY!
Here are a couple of pics from Jake's bday. Little Miss Cate was super excited to make a cake for Daddy! We didn't have much time to party, since Jake had to run to that meeting right after work, but the kids got in an awesome SURPRISE!!!!! attack right when he got home, and we all helped finish off the cake :)
We got a special visit from Grann the next week! We always love when Grann comes to visit! This time we actually made a big dinner at the house (monumental!), she got to see Max's school play, and Cate and I took her down to Market Square for some Tomato Head and shopping! Fun!
Cate loves Grann!
Grann and Max lookin' tough right after Max's Big Bad Squirrel performance! Then, there was the big school play, which was AWESOME! I seriously can't even put into words how totally adorable the whole thing was! All the kids did a great job with their parts and the songs were just perfect! Of course, I may be partial, but the Big Bad Squirrel definitely stole the show! How are the little acorns going to be moved to new places to grow once they fall from the tree? Just leave it to these guys ...
The first video is just the beginning of the their rap. It cut off Max's solo part which is in the second video.
By far the funniest part of the show was right after this when Max and the other squirrels were exiting the stage and Max turned around and shook his fluffy tail for an EXTRA long time :D What a HAM!
Even Cate couldn't stop singing that catchy tune once it was all over
My camera lens didn't really zoom far enough for this one, so here are some great pics taken by my friend Lynn:
Here are the couple of quick shots I was able to get of Max the Squirrel before he changed out of his costume (Too bad they don't show the tail :/)
Love his sweet smile in this picture :)
Squirrels rule!
Let's see ... St. Patty's day was in there somewhere, and both kids had great St. Patty's day parties at school! Max made a leprechaun trap, which he took to the kindergarden class to help them catch a leprechaun, and Cate was especially giddy when a leprechaun actually visited her class, leaving his hat and tiny pants behind!
Whew! Is anybody tired of reading this yet??? Well, that isn't even the half of it! As you all know, we just returned from a full week at Disney World!!!! I haven't gotten all of the pics uploaded from that yet, so I'll just leave you with this one of Cate and Cousin Carolina all Minnied up and ready to hit the Magic Kingdom!
Cuteness overload!!!
